Sodick Co., Ltd., founded in 1976 by Toshihiko Furukawa in Yokohama, Japan, is a world pioneer in EDM technology. The company delivered the world's first NC die-sinker EDM with a microcomputer in 1976 and remains the only manufacturer of die-sinker EDMs with linear motors. Over 90 percent of machine components, including CNC controllers and linear motors, are developed in-house. Sodick covers wire-cut EDM, die-sinker EDM, hole-drilling EDM, metal 3D printing, and injection molding machines.
