The AGEMA AS 320 integrates fast-hole EDM drilling and sinker EDM capability into a single 5-axis CNC machine, eliminating the need for separate machines and reducing handling between operations. The proprietary ISO pulse technology ensures uniform energy input during erosion, resulting in predictable electrode wear patterns and consistent bore quality across production runs.
The machine processes any electrically conductive material regardless of hardness, including hardened tool steels, tungsten carbide, and exotic aerospace alloys. Hole diameters from 0.1 mm upward are achievable with depth-to-diameter ratios exceeding 200:1. The 5-axis kinematics enable angled drilling and complex cavity sinking without re-fixturing.
Key applications include cooling channel drilling in injection molds, turbine blade film cooling holes, micro-die cavities for connector tooling, and EDM threading of hardened components. The AGEMA control system provides automated electrode compensation and real-time process monitoring for unattended production.
