Equipment overview

The Hermle C 42 U GEN2 is built on Hermle's proven modified gantry design where the spindle moves in three linear axes (X/Y/Z) while the workpiece sits on a 2-axis swivel rotary table. This configuration delivers exceptional rigidity and thermal stability because the heavy machine column absorbs cutting forces without transferring them to the workpiece fixturing.

The C 42 accommodates workpieces up to 2,500 kg with spindle speeds up to 18,000 RPM, covering the performance range from heavy titanium roughing through high-speed aluminum finishing. Available with either Heidenhain TNC7 or Siemens SINUMERIK 840D sl controls, the machine integrates with Hermle's range of automation systems including PW 850 pallet changer, HS flex handling system, and RS 2 robot system.

Hermle AG, based in Gosheim in the Swabian Alb region of Germany, has produced machining centers exclusively since 1938. The GEN2 designation indicates the second generation of the C-series platform with improvements to the chip management system, coolant delivery, and control interface. The C 42 U MT variant adds integrated turning capability for mill-turn operations.
