DLM 705 Double-Sided Flat Honing Machine

The Stahli DLM 705 is a double-sided flat honing machine that simultaneously grinds both faces of flat workpieces using CBN or diamond abrasive wheels with a working diameter of 534 mm. The dual-wheel design ensures parallelism between the two ground surfaces to within 2 micrometers, making this technology essential for sealing faces, bearing races, and optical component substrates.

Unlike single-sided surface grinding, the double-sided process eliminates the need to flip and re-fixture workpieces, reducing cycle time by more than half while improving geometric consistency. The machine accepts workpieces through a carrier system that distributes parts across the wheel face for uniform wear and consistent results.

Stahli, headquartered in Pieterlen, Switzerland, produces the complete DLM series from the DLM 705 through the DLM 1405 for larger capacity applications.
